AWARDS, READY FOR THE RED CARPET
THANK YOU SIGHTCARE; WE ARE OVER THE MOON TO BE SHORTLISTED IN THE INDEPENDENT PRACTICE OF THE YEAR CATEGORY.
LOOKING BACK
Wow, when we started out all these (40 and a bit) years ago, being put forward for an Award is probably the furthest thing from your mind. Taking over a Dairy and converting it into an optical practice took up all of your time and energy. Mortgages, loans, and then kids come along and before you realise it you’re 50 (and a bit more…), where did all these years go? So then the run-down cottage next door comes up for sale and you think well, this could be a real opportunity, and you find yourself back in the same situation of 20 years previous, ready for your next project -only now there are three adults, not kids.
HARD WORK
As my wife would say, “whatever happened to that fat, rich optician that I was going to marry? – Sorry Mogi, your aspirations were sadly misplaced! Then we are thinking we could always just sell up and enjoy retirement? Only now the new generation have come along and have ended up working in the practice… Great to be around them all the time, but retirement plans disappearing over The Campsies, perhaps just as well since I’m not very good at this retirement lark…
THE NEW SIMPSONS
Well they have taken the practice to a whole new level and it is completely testament to the hard work and vision that we have now been shortlisted for an award. Down to the last three, announcement due in a few weeks, the next blog will tell all I suppose – and as for the “fat, rich optician”, she will still have to wait…!

Not fat. Not rich. But shortlisted for an Award.
BLINDSIDE
When we begin, we all have our dreams
to be the best, or so it seems
for some they find an easy way
for others many paths to stray.
Whatever journey you’re assigned
find those who Love, that make you kind
the best of feelings, Love inside
Help others then, with their blindside
